CHRISTIAN Aid ministries based in USA has donated 10,000 bales of second-hand clothes to Noah’s Ark Gulu child shelter to help the war-affected children, child-mothers, orphans and women widowed by the LRA rebels in Gulu district, writes Chris Ochowun.
The Gulu Noah’s Ark programme coordinator, Annete Kurui, said on Friday that they received two containers of bales on Thursday, adding that six other containers were on the way.
“These consignments of clothes are supposed to come direct to Noah’s Ark Gulu and it will be illegal for any individual to tamper with the containers,” Kurui said.
She said Christian Aid officials pledged to donate the clothes when they visited Gulu in 2004 and saw the night commuting centre.
Kurui said the one-year project that started in April this year would end in April 2006.
“We shall single out HIV/AIDS victims, child-mothers, persons with disability, widows and widowers,” she said.
