THE Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda (ACCU) has demanded the resignation of labour minister Zoe Bakoko Bakoru over the mismanagement of the National Social security Fund (NSSF), writes Charles Ariko.

Deo Nkunzingoma, the ACCU chairperson, on Thursday said following a report by a select committee of Parliament, which pinned Bakoko on the botched Nsimbe Housing Estate, the minister’s integrity and competence had been put to question as a leader.

Nkunzingoma said as a result, Bakoko should either resign or the President relieves her of her duties.
He said alternatively, Parliament could use the report from the select committee as a basis to move a censure motion against her.

“The Constitution, under Article 118(1), spells out grounds for censuring ministers. They include mismanagement and incompetence, both of which have been proved by the select committee’s report,” he said.

Nkunzingoma said Bakoko’s name had been brought to shame thus lowering her respect.

“She has ceased to have any moral authority to carry on that office. She should resign,” he said.
