The Crested Crane
My Country is Uganda. My country’s emblem is the Crested Crane. I love the Crested Crane because it is so beautiful, peaceful and graceful. Our emblem symbolises the unity and humility in Uganda. The crested crane feeds on insects and other things in the mud. I also like the way it moves and swims so our emblem is so graceful and it should be respected.

Respect people at school
Schools are our second homes because we spent most of our time at school. Teachers guide us when we go wrong. Sometimes our parents don’t have time to talk to us because they come back very late. We should therefore respect all the people in the school.

Why fight over Kisanja?
When I read The New Vision, I wonder why people fight over the third term issue. People end up losing their lives, burning houses and hating each other because of the Kisanja. We waste a lot of time arguing over non-issues. Let Ugandans mind about driving poverty out of our country. Wait for the president to ask you for another term before you start quarrelling.

Obey your parents
Children are a gift to a husband and wife. Some parents mistreat children while some children disobey their parents. We should do the following to please God and our parents. We should respect the elderly, serve them, help them especially when it comes to crossing a busy road. God commands us to obey our parents so that we live longer on the earth.

Read all the time
Children in hate reading when the teachers are out of classrooms. You can borrow story books and read. Reading is in all subjects. I encourage pupils in school to read but please do not read the Red Pepper because it is bad.

Sports is good
Sports activities keep our brains active. Some games like racing and other activities make us fresh in mind and strong in body. Each school has a lesson for Physical education to keep us fresh in mind and have strong bodies. Physical education is part of the school curriculum.
