CRANES tactician Mohammed Abbas has asked his charges for a convincing performance against Victor FC today, tipped to replicate fortunes when Uganda faces DR Congo on June 5.

Abbas virtually fielded two sides during Thursday’s trial game that Cranes lost 1-0 to Simba but will opt for a stronger and first choice outfield attack in the friendly likely to also provide alternatives to the formations he intends to adopt in Kinshasa.

Principally, will be resolutions on how to combat DR Congo’s finishing threat likely to be posed by lead strikers Shabani Nonda and Lomana Lua Lua who thrive in the attacking third of the field.

A suitable pairing from among defensive midfielders Noah ‘Babadi’ Kasule, Dan Obote and Emmanuel Balyejjusa is already being structured that will meet the demands of the high-pressure 2006 World/Nations Cup fixture.

Manager Asumani Lubowa yesterday confirmed that South Africa-based defender Timothy Batabaire arrives in the country today while Ibrahim Sekagya and Nestroy Kizito set their foot in the country on Monday.

There were doubts about the availabilty of Robert Ssejjemba after the player is reported to have told the committe that the fares had shot up but did not give details of the impasse.

* CECAFA club champions SC Villa will open this year’s super league campaign with spoilers, URA FC.
Releasing the fixtures yesterday, committee member Kavuma Kabenge urged teams to always keep time.
