OVER 50 primary school headteachers from Sembabule district were fraudulently promoted, an official from the Inspector General of Government’s (IGG) office has said.

Wilson Aryeija, the inspectorate’s officer for southern region, last week said the district service commission was not aware of the promotions.

Saying the district had lost huge sums of money in salary increments for the headteachers, Aryeija ordered district authorities to file a report regarding the disciplinary action against the culprits.

He also asked the headteachers to refund the money paid to them in the six to eight months, saying they had forged promotion letters.
