This was yet another day of grief and pain to face. A live drama of 30 people perishing in yet another Kabale accident that involved a Regional bus from Kigali to Nairobi. This is a second fatal accident at this spot in Kamuganguzi, Rubanda County, Kabale District.
According to eyewitnesses and Kabale traffic police, there are many reasons why bloody accidents are occurring at this spot. The spot is in a very sharp corner that should not be without humps to slow down oncoming traffic.
According to Mzee George Wamu, 63, an eyewitness, the bus driver was driving on the right hand side of the road instead of the left. Another source claimed the driver of the bus was used to Kenyan roads and was unfamiliar with the route.
The accident has made some local residents superstitious with some of them suggesting that witchdoctors be brought in to deal with the evil spirits at the spot. The border security incident still fresh in their minds, others have called for unity between Uganda and Rwanda, claiming that the gods of these two countries could have been annoyed by the above stand-off and decided to cause such a dangerous incident in order for the two countries to settle their minor differences which festered.
