THIRTEEN nursing and midwifery training institutions in Uganda have received $566,000 (about sh1.2b) from the European Union (EU), writes Patrick Munyani.

The commissioner for Business, Technical and Vocational Education Training, Eng Francis Okinyal, said this on Thursday while touring with EU officials at the newly-established Kibuli School of Nursing and Midwifery in Kampala.

He said the funds would assist the institutions to expand their premises and buy computers and laboratory equipment.

“The EU has heard problems faced by the nurse training institutions and would like to help,” he said.
