ORPHANS from Mbuya Catholic Church Parish on Saturday received a sh700,000 donation for school fees, reports Charles Ariko.

The Uganda Bikers Association raised the money through a charitable ride in March to support the Reach Out Mbuya Parish HIV/AIDS Initiative.

The project is catering for 487 orphans. The bikers are paying school fees for 57 orphans.

Peet Coetzee, a member of UBA, said, “We are willing to support more orphans but we are constrained by the little funds we raise through our charitable rides.”
Fr. Joseph Archetti, the parish priest, said, “Education is the best gift you can give these children.

Your support is precious because you are improving their lives and assuring them of a better future.”
Lucy Lanyero, the project coordinator, said they also support children whose parents are suffering from AIDS.

She said many parents suffering from AIDS in the parish had failed to sustain their children in school.
