ROTARIANS in Masindi have planted 60 mahogany trees in the town as part of an environmental conservation campaign, reports Kyetume Kasanga.

The assistant Governor for District 9200, David Byensi, said the project marked 100 years of Rotary Club’s existence.

He also commissioned Rotary Avenue, a one-kilometre road connecting the commercial centre to the senior quarters residential area.

Byensi said the project aimed at improving the quality of life for generations to come.

He later inducted seven new rotarians, bringing to 41 the club membership.

They included the District Police Commander, Michael Mugabi and the district chairman for the Forum for Democratic Change, Isaac Kanyamu.

The out-going club president, Patrick Tumusiime, handed over to the in-coming Donozio Kisembo after a mandatory one-year term. Tumusiime said leaders in the rotary movement are elected without canvassing for votes.
