KABAROLE district has rejected a report by the local government ministry on the boundary conflicts with Bundibugyo, saying its views were not catered for.

The LC5 chief, Augustine Kayonga said they demanded that Rwebisengo, Karugutu and Kanara sub-counties that were part of Burahya county be returned to Kabarole, which the report did not contain.

“We want River Wasa, which is the natural boundary starting from the Rwenzori mountains, to be maintained between us,” Kayonga said.

He said if the areas were given back to Kabarole, this would allow the district to access the Toro game reserve and Lake Semiliki resources.

He was on Tuesday addressing the district council at Mucwa chambers in Fort Portal.

He also appealed to area MPs to follow up another land conflict in Kamwenge where some people from Kabarole had lost land at Rwamwanja sub-county.
He said the government wanted to “confiscate the land under the pretext that it belongs to it.”
