Nakapiripirit — The district council on wednesday passed a sh9b budget for the financial year 2005-2006. The district finance secretary, Hellen Pulkol, said 61% of the funds would be got from central government grants, 37% from donors and NGOs and 2% from local revenue.

Insects invade

KATAKWI — Grasshoppers suspected to have migrated from Namalu sub-county in Nakapiripirit district have destroyed 80 hectares of cereal crop in Magoro sub-county. The district LC5 chairperson, Stephen Ilemukorit, called for urgent response from the Government and NGOs.

College gets

IGANGA — Kisiki College, Namutumba on Monday received equipment worth sh50m from the United Kingdom. Gareth Hughes, assistant headteacher of John Kyroll High School in UK that twinned with the school, handed over the equipment.
