THE education ministry has warned of drug abuse that is increasing in schools countrywide, reports George Bita.
Simon Mayende (above), state minister for higher education, said the Government would not tolerate drug addicts in schools.
“Drug addiction is terrible. Students should not indulge in sniffing jet fuel which makes them feel like they can fly like jet planes,” Mayende said.
He was on Thursday commissioning a sh93m parents and Government co-funded modern science laboratory block at Nkuutu Memorial Secondary School in Busesa, Iganga district.
The headmistress, Ruth Isabirye, said many students dodge classes to sniff jet fuel in Busesa trading centre.
