Whereas I was not there at the time of this examination, I have all reasons to believe that this is a true story, and Prof. Living Luboobi should save his energy to investigate instead of calling press conferences to bash The New Vision.

We all know that some female students have over the years been awarded free marks by male lecturers in exchange for sexual favours. We also know how students have been hiring mercenaries to write dessertations for them. It is an open secret that so many people have obtained degrees from Makerere without ever stepping there!

What the undercover reporter did was putting all these things we already knew in writing! The New Vision owes no apology to Makerere. The reporter did not dream up the assignment.

The public knew what was happening and he went to Makerere to confirm! Makerere must therefore stop playing the ostrich.

The problem with Ugandans is they always tend to blame the messenger before analysing the message. Is it not on record that in June the deputy vice-chancellor Dr. Lillian Tibatemwa issued a circular warning staff against using unqualified and unauthorised personnel to invigilate examinations?

If Luboobi can deny this, then I will know that the reporter was lying! Why does Luboobi think The New Vision would publish a false story against Makerere?

Most of these journalists are Makerere graduates. why would they want to damage the institution that nurtured them? Luboobi should do Ugandans a favour and get down to work.
