Emmanuel Mirembe needs to undergo open-heart surgery in India. 24-year-old Mirembe suffers from severe Mitral Stenosis. The disease was discovered in 2001 after he suffered severe headaches. The operation cannot be done in Uganda.
Arrangements have been made to have it done in Madras Medical Mission in India at a cost of $12,100.
Mirembe however cannot raise this money on his own. He has already secured an air ticket but is still lacking the money to cover his medical bills. He missed his appointment for the surgery in June last year but hopes he can be able to have it this year.
Dr Peter Lwabi, the consultant cardiologist at Uganda Heart institute who has been attending to him says that Mirembe suffers a blocked valve, which hinders the flow of blood into the body. The symptoms usually develop between the ages of 20 and 50 years.
Any financial assistance to Mirembe can be deposited to Uganda Heart Foundation account (Mirembe Emmanuel) number 1775930 at Barclay’s Bank main branch.
