Iganga denied Gulu a clean sweep by taking the girls’ title. Gulu won all the three titles last year.

Gulu overall captain Ronald Odoki picked the main trophy. “We deserve these titles, we worked so hard to reach this stage,” Odoki said.

The captain led by example, winning the javelin final with a throw of 55.77m.

In th girls’ category, Gulu’s Monica Akello was also unrivalled, producing winning runs in the 400m final in 58.1 seconds and the 800m final in 2 minutes, 15 seconds.

Kitgum’s Huddyire Ocan also impressed by winning the long jump and triple jump events. Iganga’s Loice Saidia also registered a double, beating her rivals in the 1500m and 5000m finals.
