Dead or alive, I am entitled to the ‘mabugo’

SIR — It is most unfortunate that when Mrs Robinah Kiyingi was gunned down at the gate of her residence in Buziga, it was announced on various radio and Tv stations and many listeners and viewers rang my chambers under the mistaken belief that it was either my wife me who had been killed.

SIR — It is most unfortunate that when Mrs Robinah Kiyingi was gunned down at the gate of her residence in Buziga, it was announced on various radio and Tv stations and many listeners and viewers rang my chambers under the mistaken belief that it was either my wife me who had been killed.

Thank God, it was neither of us. I wish to inform all the people concerned that I am alive and kicking.

Therefore those who collected mabugo as a result of my alleged death should deliver the money to me because I am utterly convinced it is my money — dead or alive. or whoever collected it and diverted it to private use should refund it as a sign of honesty and transparency.

Be that as it may, I send my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved husband Aggrey Kiyingi and the family of the late Robinah.

Aggrey studied medicine with my younger brother Dr. Ssekadde Kiyingi at Makerere university and is also practising medicine in Australia.

Aggrey, under our clan system in Buganda is my brother. Hence, we have suffered a great loss, which is irreplaceable.
