DENMARK has granted Uganda $15m (about sh27b) to facilitate the Development Assistance for Refugee (DAR) programme.
DAR, launched in March last year, addresses the refugee crisis and helps affected districts to cope with the influx of refugees.
The programme coordinator, Michael Wafula, told a workshop on refugees in Hoima on Saturday that the money would run from 2005 to 2008.
Wafula was launching the DAR implementation stage at the workshop, which attracted officials from the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, the refugee welfare council and the Prime Minister’s office.
Masindi and Hoima districts host many refugees.
