“I felt very bad after the British High Commission blocked my entourage and denied us visas,” the Iteso paramount chief has said.

Augustine Osuban was addressing a cultural union meeting on Saturday at Soroti Secondary School.

“Although I have a diplomatic passport, I was tossed here and there, spending one week at Entebbe waiting for a visa from the British High Commission,” he said.

The Emorimor was delivering his first address after returning from a three-week trip to London, UK.
He said the British government and members of parliament distanced themselves from the saga.

“I was received in London by both our sons and government dignitaries, including the Mayor of Weymouth city,” he said.

“The British government denied giving orders to block my entourage. Actually, they were shocked to learn that I was blocked and blamed the Ugandan office and possibly the government,” Osuban said.

Last month, the British High Commission in Kampala declined to issue visas to the Emorimor’s entourage of 24. It was after another week that the visas were granted, but without the dancing troupe.
