SARAH Kizito, wife of city councillor Godfrey Nyakaana, is fencing off the Centenary Park in Kampala.

Kizito has already planted poles around the park on Wampewo Avenue and Jinja Road.

The city secretary for health and environment improvement, Francis Lubowa, on Wednesday said Kizito would manage the park on behalf of Kampala City Council.

Lubowa said the four acres of the park, which were allocated to Khadar Investments to construct a hotel, would not be fenced off.

The acres were allocated to the Korean investor to put up a five-star hotel ahead of the Commonwealth summit in 2007. “Kizito will fence off the park to protect the facilities she will put there,” he said.

Lubowa said Kizito would install seats in the park, which she is turning into bridal gardens.

Lubowa said Kizito would plant trees and flowers in the park. “She is working with the officer in charge of parks to improve it. We had failed to beautify it,” he said.

Lubowa said Kizito would construct washrooms in the park. Kizito is the proprietor of Lady Charlotte salon and boutique on Bombo Road in Kampala.
