UGANDA is hosting the 23rd annual conference of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA). The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) said in a statement that the five-day conference on the theme: “Enhancing the quality of education through assessment” at Speke Resort Munyonyo begins on August 8.
AEAA is an affiliate of the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA).
“The main aim of AEAA is to promote cooperation among examining and assessment bodies in Africa so as to improve assessment, testing and examining and address and share experiences on issues of assessment and student evaluation,” UNEB said in a statement signed by the board secretary, Matthew Bukenya.
The AEAA was formed in 1983 as an Association of Examining and Assessment bodies in Eastern Africa. By 1991, the southern African countries had joined the association, which was now called the association for examining bodies in eastern and southern Africa.
In the mid 1990s, the examining bodies from other regions joined it, turning it into a continental association. Consequently, the name changed to AEAA.
