Private companies fail to win local and international bids due to failure to effectively follow procurement laws, the American Procurement Company chief said on Monday.

“Many companies in Uganda have competed for bids but failed to win because they don’t follow the laws as stipulated in the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act,” Robert Mwesigwa, said.

Mwesigwa, who is also the chief executive officer of the Procurement News Magazine, said this at a press conference at Dar-es-Salaam Information Centre.

This was at the launch of Procurement News Magazine, which replaced The East African Procurement newspaper.

“Seventy-percent of the regional governments’ funds go into procurement,” Mwesigwa said.
