SC Villa v Police

MARTIN Muwanga and Geoffrey Massa emerged from the shadows and into the limelight this season with the goals that have catapulted fashionable Police to just a step away to their first historic league title.

The two league top strikers, with 16 goals between them, insist there will be no stage fright when Police step out for a game that presents Police with their first title.

“There is nothing special in SC Villa. We have beaten KCC twice, dumped Express and Villa will have to fall. We are winning the league title,” said Massa, whose striking combination with Muwanga has become formidable.

“We want to change history. This Villa ‘talk’ will have to end,” added Muwanga.

Police face SC Villa, 4-1 aggregate winners over KCC FC in the semi-finals.

Their fixture on September 14 will be uncharted territory for the club and players, and both parties could be excused for being overawed.
It will be familiar terrain for Villa but not for the Cops, who have not won a major trophy in their history.

Few expect them to survive. Yet that in itself is an advantage and Villa will go into the showdown with memories of the faltering conclusion to their 2002 Kakungulu final defeat against Mbale Heroes.

For Police, reaching the final comes with the bonus of yet another continental berth, meaning they have already exceeded their wildest expectations. The final is a day to enjoy.

“Making the final is a very big thing ever to happen to Police.
For most of us, it is the biggest game we’ve ever been involved in. It is massive. But the good thing is all the pressure is on Villa,” added Massa.
