<b>MPs in Kenya</b><br>KAMPALA — Sixteen MPs, most of them on the agriculture committee, yesterday left for Kenya and Tanzania to compare notes on the lake Victoria Environmental Protection programme.

KAMPALA — Sixteen MPs, most of them on the agriculture committee, yesterday left for Kenya and Tanzania to compare notes on the lake Victoria Environmental Protection programme. The team will, during the eight-day trip, mainly focus on the fisheries sector in preparation for the Fisheries Bill and policy which are in offing.

Kooki raps
RAKAI — Elders from Kooki chiefdom have protested against the elevation of Kabula county to district status. Rakai district council endorsed Kabula district on August 17. A source in Kooki said they could not lose Kakyera and Lwamagwa to the new district. The chiefdom covers 10 sub-counties in Kakuuto county.

Aporu warns
SOROTI — State minister for disaster preparedness Christine Amongin Aporu (below) has warned the opposition to desist from politicising the plight of the displaced people living in camps. She was on Wednesday speaking at the launch of the national policy on internally displaced persons in Teso at Soroti Hotel. She said LRA rebels had displaced 1.6 million people.
