UGANDA Television (UTV) has been added to the list of more than 50 channels on the continent's leading satellite pay television service DStv, as part of its ongoing pan-African exercise.
The exercise involves including public broadcasting channels onto the DStv bouquet.
The DStv bouquet includes news, sports, educational programming, motion pictures, documentaries, light entertainment and music.
“The inclusion of UTV took effect earlier this month, and will assist UTV with its objective to reach Ugandans in remote areas and provide a digital quality picture,” said Harry Pratt, the MultiChoice Africa business development manager.
This was during a press conference at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Thursday.
Pratt said the partnership would include other free-to-air services such as SABC 1, 2 and 3 to South Africa, Namibia and Nigeria.
“MultiChoice Africa wishes to enhance DStv international status by affording as many African public broadcasters as possible a chance to be on the DStv bouquet,” he said.
MultiChoice Uganda General Manager, Charles Hamya, said “I am delighted about the deal.”
UTV is included on the DStv offering."
