Cranes draw Ethiopia

Uganda Cranes have been drawn with defending champions Ethiopia in this year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup scheduled for Kigali, Rwanda November 19-December 3.

Uganda Cranes have been drawn with defending champions Ethiopia in this year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup scheduled for Kigali, Rwanda November 19-December 3.
Releasing the draw yesterday, CECAFA secretary Nicholas Musonye said the Council executive met in Zanzibar on Sunday where the draw was carried, adding that full fixtures will be released soon.
Besides being pitted again Ethiopia, Cranes are in a modest group ‘B’ that includes Djibouti and Somalia. Group ‘A’ has Rwanda, Kenya, Zanzibar and Eritrea while group ‘C’ includes Burundi, Sudan and Tanzania.
All the eleven teams have confirmed participation in the tournament sponsored by Ethiopian tycoon Sheikh Al Amoudi to the tune of US $0.5m. The championship total cash prize is US $70,000.
