A captain’s knock of 61 runs from Hamza Saleh guided Uganda to a 65-run victory over Fiji yesterday and put them a match away from qualifying for the U-19 World Cup.

Uganda face Namibia in a make-or-break tie whose winner will snatch their group’s sole ticket to Sri Lanka next year.

Lower order batsmen Patrick Ochan (42) Raymond Otim (20) and Emmanuel Isaneez (10) helped Uganda pile 190 runs after a slow start, before Ochan and Davis Arinaitwe picked three wickets each to frustrate Fiji at the Benoni oval in Johannesburg.
