THE Masaka district chief, Vincent Ssempijja, last week commissioned the construction of a sh267m road funded by the European Union (EU).

The road will link Ndagwe to Kyazanga roads. Chris Omony and Dismus Buregyeya write that Ddembe Civil Engineering and Building Contractors won the 8-km feeder road tender.

Ssempijja called upon the residents and leaders to utilise the road to fight poverty.

He said the road should be used to ease the transport burden and access to farm produce.
Ssempijja hailed Ddembe, saying it was competent for the project.

Eng Banarbas Asiimwe, the Ddembe project manager called for cooperation between the locals and the technocrats to make the project a success.

Lt Joe Walusimbi, the works and security supervisor, warned against shoddy work.

The district works supervisor, Eng Muzibira, said the district would get sh2b under the EU’s road support programme.

The Kyazanga LC3 chairman, Vincent Kaitana, and his Ndagwe counterpart, Victor Mulika, attended commissioning ceremony.
