At least 3,000 children in Kasese and Bushenyi districts are benefiting from the Compassion International free education project.

The project is a joint venture by the Church of Uganda Diocese of South Rwenzori and the Baptist Church in Kasese.

“We have at least 3,000 children benefiting from the project and may register more,” Ivan Syawuswa, the Cluster Co-ordinator, said on Friday at the closing of a week-long workshop at Saad Hotel in Kasese.

The workshop was aimed at assessing the progress of the project and to help the Cluster officers to internalise the Life Skills and Behaviour Changes Concept.

The project started last year and considers mainly children who have lost both parents, children from poverty-stricken families and war and AIDS orphaned children.
