ETHIOPIA lifted the CECAFA U-20 trophy after edging Burundi 5-4 in a penalty shoot out in the final on Sunday.

ETHIOPIA lifted the CECAFA U-20 trophy after edging Burundi 5-4 in a penalty shoot out in the final on Sunday.
The win in Zanzibar meant the Ethiopians left the island sh14m wealthier, courtesy of Zanzibar’s President Abedi Karume. Burundi won sh9m.
Eritrea beat Tanzania 4-3 on penalties to finish third and walk off with sh5m.
CECAFA general secretary Nicholas Musonye however called for transparency in selecting players of the right age. “Some countries cheated on a few players. This does not help our zone,†he said.
