FMU technical delegate Yusuf Ahmed early this week started going around drivers’ workshops offering technical advise as they prepare their cars for the Pearl rally.

The move by FMU is intended to save the drivers embarrassment at the last minute at scrutineering next week that will be conducted by the no nonsense FIA technical delegate Viren Goricha.

“Many cars in the Rwanda rally recently were not capable of passing scrutineering so to avoid cars being thrown out of our rally, Yusuf is helping drivers,” said Jack Wavamunno, the organising committee chairman.

Next weekend’s rally has attracted top drivers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda and Burundi.
