KAMPALA - Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC) has hailed World Vision for declaring the north a humanitarian emergency and pledged to work with it to address the needs of the region. This was during a meeting between UJCC's Rev Can. Grace Kaiso and World Vision chief Luther Anukur on Tuesday.

Deserters got
BUSIA - The Police have arrested two UPDF deserters with a gun and bullets. District Police commander Christopher Barugahare said they had been tracking privates Sam Kidiki from Padyeri and Patrick Obonyo from Kabalama Army Barracks for a long time in connection with several armed robbers.

Chief sued
MAYUGE - An employee of Imanyiro has sued the sub-county chief at the human rights commission in Jinja for non-payment of salary arrears amounting to sh2.6m. Kusaini Muzei said he was employed in 1999 as a messenger at sh50,000 but he had never been paid.

CAO applauds

SOROTI chief administrative officer (CAO) George William Omuge has hailed the Uganda AIDS Control Project for being a steady partner of the district in the fight against the disease.
This was in a statement released by his office on Tuesday, thanking the body for sh5m given to four organisations for AIDS activities.
