THE International Policy Fellowship Program of the Open Society Institute invites applications for the 2006 – 2007 fellowships.
The Open Society Institute and the Centre for Policy Studies of the Central European University in Budapest, offers fellowships to support analytical policy research in pursuance of open society goals such as the rule of law, democratic elections, diverse and vigorous civil societies and respect for minorities.
Successful applicants will demonstrate originality, sound project design and a strong likelihood that their project may lead to significant impact on policy.
All the applications must be submitted online by September 20, 2005.

Those without Internet access should send an e-mail to fellows@osi.hu to discuss alternate application solutions. pplications sent by mail, fax or e-mail will not be considered unless given prior approval from IPF staff. The fellows will receive supervision and support from a senior policy analyst and will be invited to Budapest in April 2006 for initial orientation.

UK offers study opportunities
UGANDANS wishing to pursue further studies in Britain may now get ready for scholarship opportunities lined up for academically competent, but financially unable Ugandans.
The British Council has availed a list, which will soon be advertised in the media. It includes: Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan.
Funded by the Department for International Development and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, this scholarship is intended for citizens of either a Commonwealth country (not the Commonwealth of Independent States) or a British dependent territory.
Candidates must have a university degree or its equivalent qualification.
Grants are for one to three years and usually cover travel, tuition fees and living expenses.
In Uganda, invitations for applications for a small number of these scholarships is normally through adverts in the daily newspapers between August and October.

You must normally be under 35 years to apply for a Masters and 45 years for a PhD at the time your course is due to start and you must be able to speak English fluently.

The Rhodes scholarship:
The Rhodes Trust provides one scholarship for Uganda every year.
The scholarship avails a wide range of degree courses at Oxford University.
Candidates must appear in person before the Selection Committee in Kampala, if required to do so. Candidates must either already hold a first or upper second-class degree from a university or its equivalent qualification.
They should also be under 27 years of age, but not below 19 years at the time their course is due to start and must be able to speak English fluently.
