NATIONAL champion Moses Kawuma was in brilliant form as Mulago A moved closer to winning the chess league title on Sunday.

Kawuma beat Makerere University team’s Emma Otella to set off victory for his side in the Division One match at Lugogo.

Kawuma’s compatriot Steven Mutumba won his game without sweating after Makerere’s board three player failed to turn up.

Grace Nsubuga drew with Makerere’s Ivan Kaddu to ensure victory for Mulago.

Makerere’s John Ntende beat veteran Willy Zabasajja but it was too late to stop the rampaging Mulago.

The win pushed Mulago to 20.5 points ahead of Kireka A at 17.5, Mengo third at 14 and Makerere a step below at 12.5.

At the sametime, Patrick Kawuma showed he would be a force to reckon in future by winning the U-17 title at the inaugural children’s tournament.

Krishna Shukla was also in good shape beating all his rivals to win the U-17 title.

Action will be back with the Olympiad qualifiers at Lugogo this weekend.
