KAMPALA International University (KIU) had their MTN league winning streak halted when they succumbed to a 68-72 loss to Charging Rhinos on Sunday at YMCA courts.

In a tight contest, Rhinos grabbed a 70-66 lead with one minute left in regulation time on a basket by David Kiberu but KIU’s Patrick Deng made 2-of-2 free throws to bring the team two points (70-68) closer.

A miss by Rhinos gave KIU the chance to force the game into overtime but Julius Wapera missed a jumper that saw Rhinos’ Robert Ndamagye convert the final shot and seal the win 72-68.

Diego Angemi finished with 18 points, Ndamagye added 13 and Ronnie Kalule chipped in 11 for Rhinos, whose trip to the playoffs is now brighter.
