RIYAZ Kurji, who narrowly missed out on the Africa championship, will have to contend with 1999 Africa champion Charles Muhangi for the 2006 continental title, reports Douglas Mazune.

Muhangi, whose new Subaru N-10 in Scotland could not be flown into the country in time for last weekend’s Pearl of Africa Uganda rally, said he would use the car to reclaim his title next season.

“Riyaz missed his best opportunity to take the title but now that I am coming back on the African scene he will have to wait longer. I want to be the only bull in the crawl for some time,” Muhangi warned.

Muhangi said he will drive the Subaru WRC in the Castrol-Mogas Independence rally next month and reserve the new car for the opening round of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) in Ivory Coast in January.

The Tanzania and Kenya ARC rounds are in February and March respectively while the Uganda Pearl rally has been shifted from September to April.
