Arua district councillors on Thursday walked out of a council meeting after disagreeing on the location of the headquarters of a new district to be curved out of Arua.
The councillors were to decide on the name and headquarters of the district to comprise Terego and Maracha counties.
After over five hours of emotional deliberations, seven councillors from Terego marched out of the Social Centre Hall when speaker Ali Adrama called for a vote on whether to establish the headquarters at Nyadri in Maracha or Kubala in Terego.
The Terego group said councillors from Madi Okollo county were siding with those from Maracha because of a longstanding land wrangle between Madi Okollo and Terego.
