THE supply of fuel has started improving, Shell Uganda chief Ivan Kyayonka (left) has said.

Kyayonka said, “fuel is now coming in but we had a big shortage, so we cannot fill the gap quickly.”

He said the shortage created a big gap that needed to be closed at a very fast speed by bringing in more fuel, adding that, “the shortage is still prevalent.”

Kyayonka said despite resuming supply, local filling stations had not got enough stock, especially of diesel, because it had completely run out.

“The situation has not yet normalised,” Kyayonka said on phone yesterday. He appealed to the Government and oil dealers to increase the amount of fuel imported into the country to cover the gap.

A new tax system that Kenya put in place recently slowed down the fuel supply, causing the shortage.
Last week, Ugandan oil dealers met with Kenyan authorities over a diesel shortage.
