<b>Govt pays ex-workers</b><br>THE Government has paid sh5.5b to over 1,500 former Lira Spinning Mills workers, the privatisation minister, Prof Peter Kasenene said recently.<br>The factory was sold off in 2001.

THE Government has paid sh5.5b to over 1,500 former Lira Spinning Mills workers, the privatisation minister, Prof Peter Kasenene said recently.
The factory was sold off in 2001.
Kasenene said up to 124 state enterprises had been divested to date.
He was speaking during the review of the privatisation programme in Kampala.

Woo investors, envoy advises
Uganda’s envoy to Iran Dr Ahmed Kisuule, has said Uganda still needs agro-based investors and asked his colleagues to woo more into the country.
Kisule said recently that the Government would come up with a new policy to assist local investors.
