KAMPALA — President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday travelled to Tripoli, Libya for a two-day working visit at the invitation of Libyan leader Col. Muammer Gadhafi. A State House statement yesterday said Museveni was received at Tripoli International airport by Gen. Moustafa Kharoubi. He later held talks with Gadhafi. Finance state minister Mwesigwa Rukutana and the outgoing ambassador to Libya, William Hakiza, attended, the statement said.

Court orders
KAMPALA — The High Court has directed Maj. Gen. Ali Bamuze to file his objections to a case, where a former combatant accuses the former rebel leader of withholding his share from the sh4.2b compensation the government offered the West Nile Rescue Front. Justice Vincent Kagaba directed Bamuze to file his objections by October 10, following a case filed by Abdu Karim Kalanzi.

PGB sued
KAMPALA — Totaki Auto Garage has sued the government demanding sh63m for the repair of presidential Guard brig-ade (PGB) motor vehicles. Totaki’s lawyers, Twesigye and Company Advocates, filed the case with the High Court, saying their client repaired 148 vehicles between March 15, 2001 and September 30, 2002 on the request of the State House Comptroller.

Sudan sends
KAMPALA — The Sudan government has sent a list of its new government of national unity to the foreign affairs ministry. A statement from the Sudan Embassy on Thursday said the new government was formed on Tuesday by President Omar Hassan al-Bashir and sworn in on Thursday. The list consists of 28 ministers, 33 state ministers, 12 presidential advisors and one presidential assistant.
