A local arm of the Information Sytems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) will soon start in Kampala to regulate the use of Information technology systems in auditing.

Steven Turyahikayo, the interim president, said recently that the first phase that involves registration with the international body has been completed and approved, but awaits chattering to be allowed to hold offices and use the logos.

“The international body has set up standards, which must be followed by people involved in IT audit.

“It is important that we have a local chapter to regulate the practice of IT audit and control in our country,” Turyahikayo said.

Kenya and Tanzania are already members of the association, but Uganda has lagged behind.

Most companies are said to prefer employees that have sat the international examinations and have been certified.

“Membership is voluntary, and unless Ugandans wake, such professionals will be imported,” he said.
