MUKONO — Police in Buvuma Islands are holding a 45-year-old man in connection with strangling his stepchild. George Waidhuba allegedly killed four-year-old Joel Waiswa. The OC of Lingira Island Police out post, James ocelot, said the suspect was yet to be transferred to Mukono Central Police Station.

Healer held
KAMPALA — The Police last Tuesday arrested a herbalist who is suspected of stealing US$400 at Entebbe airport. Nabuwati Namyalo, 30, of Nansana village in Wakiso district, allegedly stole the money from a friend, Sanyu Nalukwago, a businesswoman who was heading for Dubai to purchase merchandise.

Mayor urges
ENTEBBE — Mayor Stephen Kabuye has written to the Government, pleading that it stops the Civil Aviation Authority from evicting over 1,000 residents. Addressing the affected residents on Tuesday, Kabuye said they should not lose sleep, because CAA had not received eviction order from court.

Man shot
MASAKA — The mobile police Patrol on Tuesday night shot dead an armed robber and several others fled with wounds after exchanging fire with them at Mbiriizi, on the Masaka-Mbarara highway. The incident occurred near Mbiriizi town at about 3:00am, when the Police confronted the robbers, who were harassing motorists.
