IN our story, “IGG visit throws Mukono officials into panic” published on September 14 on page 6, it was reported that Mrs. Margaret Ntorantyo, then the district personnel officer, had recently been interdicted over alleged abuse of office. We have since established that Ntorantyo’s interdiction was quashed by the High Court, which also ordered that she be reinstated to her office to resume her duties. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

MPs clash
KAMPALA — Drama ensued in Parliament on Thursday when Dr. Stephen Malinga (Butebo) and Nicholas Gole (Budaka) clashed over who to use as focal people during the probe on the controversy surrounding the new districts of Budaka and Manafwa as well as Tororo. Gole accused Malinga of paying people to keep them in Pallisa district.

Youth call
KAMPALA — The Youth Brigade, a faction of the Democratic Party, has called for the resignation of the party chairperson over alleged utterances in support of President Yoweri Museveni. Acting secretary general Ismail Kiberu on Wednesday told the press that Mzee Boniface Byanyima’s (above) call for Ugandans to vote for Museveni for the sake of peace was unfortunate.

CP criticises
KAMPALA — The Conservative Party (CP) has criticised the new political parties Bill, saying there is too much regulation of activities of political parties by the State. Lubaga South MP and CP secretary general Ken Lukyamuzi was presenting the party views to the parliamentary committee on legal and parliamentary affairs yesterday.
