NAMAGUNGA Boarding Primary School is to construct a three-storey dormitory to accommodate about 400 pupils.

Father Joseph Musisi, the education secretary of Catholic-founded schools in Lugazi diocese, said the construction would cost about sh900m.

Musisi said the project was a joint venture with the parents, old girls and well-wishers. “This will add a good interesting and conducive learning environment to the girl-child so that she values education whole-heartedly as a key to success in life,” he said.

The new structure will reduce the congestion of students in the existing school structures especially ones that were built by missionaries in the early 1920's.

Sister Asumpta Babirye, the headmistress, said Namagunga boarding primary school has 980 pupils, 33 teachers and support staff who need healthy, comfortable and enjoyable accommodation.”

“This school is one of the best in Uganda and not only does it excel in academics, but also in co-curricular activities like music dance and drama,” Babirye added.
