SALIM Ali and the Najja High team brought league giants Kampala International University (KIU) back to earth at the YMCA court on Sunday.

Ali scored 25 points and dished out 7 assists as Najja handed KIU a shocking but convincing 98-81 defeat. The defeat denied the Kansanga team, which has lost four of its five games, an MTN basketball league playoff berth.

Fighting to avoid relegation next season, Najja High got off to an early 17-9 first quarter lead that they built upon with Danson Ngati and Eric Nyamai scoring 24 and 22 points apiece.

KIU finished with 35 turnovers with Najja converting 23 points off those turnovers to build a double-digit lead.

Meanwhile, Sky Jammers redeemed themselves from last week’s loss to No-Nem with an 83-79 victory over Bush Court.
