SIR — I have closely been following events in the press and have discovered that our teachers have become a rotten group of people.
Both my parents are teachers and as I was brought up in the strictest environment because they did not want me to portray bad upbringing. In those days, teachers were exemplary.
Today things have changed.
I work in a bank as a loan officer and I am amazed at the rate of dishonesty by teachers. Our loan scheme is to help the poor elevate themselves out of poverty.
However, some teachers take up multiple loans in different institutions and move from branch to branch using forged names, and getting more loans! Because of this, we can no longer lend other teachers.
The greed for money by a few has totally deprived others of loan benefits. What examples are these giving the children they teach? I think there is need for teachers who do not respect their profession to remember that teaching is called a noble profession otherwise we are in trouble!
