MAKINDYE bounced back to the winning podium when they regained the inter-district boxing championship crown here on Sunday.

MAKINDYE bounced back to the winning podium when they regained the inter-district boxing championship crown here on Sunday.

The champions led by renowned promoter Samuel Lukanga dethroned Rubaga north after garnering 31 points in the three-day meet that drew a mammoth crowd of spectators
Hosts Busia also announced a major potential by taking second place with 22 points.

Kakira finished third with Rubaga South at six points.

Middleweight Musa Okumu heralded Busia’s major potential in big weights by stopping Kai Kutesa of Makindye in round one.

The stout boxer won scored from all judges after out-smarting his opponent with stinging jabs.

Musa Maganda also took the heavyweight title after a round two stoppage against David Matanda in all Busia final.

Meanwhile, the highly billed Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) annual general assembly flopped because of lack of registration.
