HUSSEIN Kheri has urged his KCC FC team not to develop a ‘mental block’ about playing SC Villa when the sides meet in a two leg Kakungulu Cup showdown tomorrow.

The two clubs will stage a repeat of the City Tyres Super League semi-final, starting at Nakivubo Stadium and Kheri said: “Its time we forget the past and see what’s ahead. We should be mentally upright facing them again. I have mainly worked on the players psyche.

“We will be playing two games, when away goals can count as double, so it should be easier”.

Both giants are aware that the oldest cup competition presents each with the final chance of domestic silverware this season.

Villa have already beaten KCC twice this season, 2-0 and 3-1 in their league double headers.

However they could be denied a valuable opportunity for glory, and Kheri emphasises making the final will be sweet revenge.

“Can we win? Why not, its football and anything can happen,” he said.

Villa struggled in their quarter-final stages before eliminating Masaka LC 2-0 on aggregate.

In contrast, KCC go into the potential first leg on a high after defeating Jogoo Young 4-2 in two legs.

Reminiscent of previous meetings, the current form guide suggests Villa could still run out winners and team captain Andrew Mwesigwa said: “We will protect our recent record against them.”

KCC have not beaten the Villa Park outfit in 12 league meetings.

Meanwhile yesterday at Namboole, URA went through a scare before they qualified for the Kakungulu Cup final 4-3 on aggregate.

Kinyara, riding on the 1-0 first leg margin were on the score sheet first when diminutive Zamayoni Kwikwi converted from the penalty spot early in the first half.

But goals by veterans David Kazibwe (brace), Joseph Mutyaba and Sam Mubiru made the game safe for the tax collectors.
Kwikwi scored another penalty but too late.
