A Police officer attached to the Masaka mobile police patrol unit was yesterday charged with demanding sh200,000 by force from the Uganda taxi operators.
Buganda Road Court heard that Patrick Ekot claimed that the money would facilitate him in investigating a land dispute between the taxi operators and Katwe Butego. Ekot, however, denied the charges.

TWO UPDF lieutenants accused of plotting a coup have asked the Military court martial to dismiss the case because the charges are flawed. Poro Koro Mbeyehuzya and Christopher Mwotil, through their lawyer Oboth Okumu, said the charges did not name the army officers they allegedly incited to overthrow the Government.
