KCC and SC Villa will have their defensive qualities tested to the limit in a two-leg Kakungulu Cup semi-final that starts today.

“The two legs are basically about not conceding at home and taking the advantage away,” Villa captain and key defender Andrew Mwesigwa noted.

KCC FC tactician Hussein Kheri added: “We made it hard for ourselves in the league semi-finals conceding twice at home. That kills the game off. We are aware and Villa is, so we will all be cautious.”

A place in the final is a huge incentive to both clubs, and with average opponents URA already awaiting the winner in the October 21 final, anxiety should be even higher.

The current form guide certainly does not help a KCC defence that cracks all too easily.

Only a team prepared to take the game to a free-attacking Villa is likely to overcome this fine side.

Yet, when the opposition press forward, is exactly when the Jogoos can be a menace.

Ronald Apangu and Jamil Kasiita will have to hold their lines in KCC’s defence to survive any assaults.

Besides, much will also depend on coach Kheri’s team selection and the hunger of whatever troops he decides to send on to the turf.

If they are as hungry for victory as Villa are, then you would not bet against them, but, it is difficult to see how they could be as hungry at the moment.
