ALWAYS Be Tolerant (ABETO), a peace promoting NGO, has received sh37m from the Icelandic International Development Agency (IIDA) in support of its peace education syllabus.

ABETO chief Moses Musana said the funds would go towards the translation of their peace education training manual into Luganda. They would also use the money for the publication and distribution of the manual and brochures in addition to training peace instructors.

“I am grateful to IIDA country director, Agusta Gisladottir, for his support. We are going to ensure these funds are used in line with ABETO’s mission,” Musana said in an interview recently.

Musana said the peace education syllabus had been acknowledged by the Ministry of Education and had been forwarded to the National Curriculum Development Centre for scrutiny.

He said with Icelandic support, the project will first be piloted in Kampala and Kalangala districts and Buvuma islands in Mukono district before spreading out to the rest of the country.
